Elyse Pierce: Julia's Song - The Price of Fame

I am not famous. Truth be told, when I was a little girl, I always wanted to be famous. As an adult, I’m glad that wish didn’t come true. That’s not to say, I don’t love hearing from readers, or being approached here and there, because I do. I love meeting people who have enjoyed my work. But at the end of the day, I can feel safe knowing I made it home without being followed. (At least that is what I’m assuming.)

I feel sorry for people who cannot say the same. I feel sorry for people who have photographers lurking in their bushes, waiting for the perfect money shot. Any picture of someone who does not have on a perfect outfit and smile is immediately identified as a celebrity on the brink of a breakdown. Ps – they would have a field day with me! Especially if I didn’t have time for a shower or coffee!

You hear all the time about celebrities saying they ignore it all, but do they really? How can they? Your name and image is plastered everywhere for all the world to see. You would have to be made out of stone to not let that get to you.

And so, what does someone of that stature do? Is it possible for them to have a life out of the public eye? I guess there are many who would say – well this is what you signed up for when you decided to take a path leading to fame.

But what happens when you never intended or even wanted to take that path? How do you regain your life as just one among the masses once again?

I ask these questions in my new novel, Julia’s Song.

Julia Alexander is a quiet girl from a small town. When she meets the love of her life, she is unaware of just how drastically her life is about to change. Suddenly thrown into the spotlight, her life is no longer her own. Relentlessly followed by the paparazzi, Julia is forced to make tough decisions about fame, love, and relationships. Just how much would she be willing to sacrifice to regain her privacy? Is reclaiming her life even possible, or is it too late?

Julia’s Song is available exclusively on Kindle, and is available today only as a FREE download through Amazon.
